Michigan Gaming Control Board Cracks Down on Illegal Online Casinos

On April 2, 2025, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) issued cease-and-desist orders to Lucky Tiger Casino and Rich Palms Casino for operating illegally in the state. Managed by Alistair Solutions NV and based in Curaçao, these online casinos were offering a variety of gambling services, including slots, video poker, and table games, to Michigan residents without the necessary state authorization.

MGCB’s Zero Tolerance for Illegal Gambling
In a statement, Henry Williams, Executive Director of the MGCB, reiterated the board’s commitment to fighting illegal gambling: “This agency has zero tolerance for illegal gambling. We will continue to exercise our regulatory oversight and authority to protect Michigan citizens and licensed operators.” The MGCB warned that violators of the law will face appropriate consequences, including potential legal action.

Offshore Casinos Operating Without Michigan License
Lucky Tiger and Rich Palms are accused of violating several Michigan laws, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act and the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, which mandate that online gambling must only be conducted by state-licensed operators. Violating these laws is a felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison or fines of up to $100,000.
