Swedish Regulator Bans GG.bet for Operating Without License
Sweden’s gambling regulator Spelinspektionen has issued an immediate ban against ASG 360 Services, the operator behind GG.bet, for offering gambling services in Sweden without the required license. This decisive action marks the third operator to be blacklisted by Swedish authorities.
Investigation Findings
Spelinspektionen’s inquiry revealed substantial evidence that GG.bet was actively targeting Swedish players:
- Unrestricted access: Swedish consumers could freely register, deposit funds, and gamble without any barriers
- No geoblocking: The platform failed to implement technical measures to prevent Swedish players from accessing the site
- Local currency support: Transactions were facilitated in Swedish krona (SEK)
- Localized marketing: Swedish-language promotional materials were distributed through affiliate marketers
- Mirror websites: Multiple domains under variations of the GG.bet brand were discovered
Notably, ASG 360 did not respond to the regulator’s inquiries or provide any clarification regarding its activities.
Market Impact and Significance
According to ATG’s Q4 2024 data, GG.bet ranked as the fifth most visited unlicensed gambling site in Sweden with 76,124 visits during the three-month period. The data revealed that 17 out of the 20 most accessed unauthorized operators utilized platform providers that also serve licensed operators, highlighting significant enforcement challenges.
